Your Spending Habit PROVES You DON’T want More Money.

Spending habits.  We all have them. Yours may be revealing you really don’t want more money, despite your claim.

If you want money, when you have it you would find a way to keep it, and make more of it.

If you want stuff, you find a way to get more stuff.  That is why you have DEBT, not MONEY!

Your check book does not lie, and what it reveals is the most honest display of your true desire.  For many of you claiming you want more money, it’s time to get honest.

You Don’t Want More Money. Your Spending Habit PROVES that.

STUFF!  So much stuff that garages are too full of and even off-site storage is now necessary.  As soon as the money comes in, it is spent on stuff.  So what you really want is STUFF, not money!

If you want money, when you have it you would find a way to keep it, and make more of it.

If you want stuff, you find a way to get more stuff.  That is why you have DEBT, not MONEY!

So, be honest with yourself.

Now, having understood your real focus, decide which serves you better?  Stuff or money?

How often do you find you have several bags of stuff you never use?

Spending Money Hack

Maybe you need to refocus, de-clutter and learn to pause.  Try this hack of waiting 30 minutes before making a purchase.  If you think you want it – wait!  I would say, wait a day – but many of you will have trouble waiting for even the 30 minutes I suggest,  However, TRY!  Most of you will find the urge to splurge will go with a 30-minute wait, and you will hold on to more of your money and have fewer regret, or unnecessary purchases.  Your net worth will increase too – and NOW, you will have more money.

BONUS:  With the pause, when you DO spend, it will be on stuff you really like, really want, really use.

Your Spending Truth

Your debit and credit card transactions reveal your deepest truth and it only takes a few minutes looking at it to tell you what that is.  Many of you would rather wallow in self-denial than hear your truth.  If you connect with me for help – you will be forced to come face to face with that truth.

So, this post is a d.i.y. help for those of you who are not ready to explore your truth, not ready to connect with me to help you get real and fix it, or for those of you who believe you can fix yourself.

Like I said, Your debit and credit card transactions reveal your deepest truth and it only takes a few minutes looking at it to tell you what that is.

Mint.com and even some banking websites have a smart budget tool that can track and sort your spending into categories to help you get a graphical picture of where your money goes.  If you are not currently using one of these, I suggest you start.

One of my favorite software for this (and the one I use) is YNAB

YNAB, spending plan, Spending,

With a quick toggle, you can have a graphical display of where your money is going.  While the majority of that money is likely to be on basic living expenses such as rent/mortgage, food and utlities, other spending such as the kind of car you bought, and how often you eat out, shop for clothing, pay for escort services and such reveal so much more – and it is not going to tell me what you think.

Most financial coaches will help you sort these expenditures, or ask you to review them strictly from an approach of helping you improve your credit score, or save more, or invest better.  All these are excellent goals, but very often futile if you do not first get to the heart of the matter, which is, the matter of the heart

My mom is a therapist and sent me a referral of a couple where the husband was a spendaholic.  After a consultation, I realized we had to come up with a new program.  You see, while I can help you come face to face with your real problem, I may not be able to help you solve it – and that is where emotional Therapy comes in.

Many spending habits are really a cry for help at a deeper level. A man who desperately spends on image icons may be really asking for respect and acknowledgment.  The woman who detrimentally spends on parties and drinks may really be begging to be loved and trying to kill loneliness.

There will always be emotional spending, but when that spending is causing chaos and trouble at home, maybe even interfering with grocery shopping – there is a problem beyond simply poor money control.

For some, facing their truth is enough to cause them to change direction, others need further therapy.  This this incredible partnership between my mother and I.

Take ActionSo, if your goal is more money; there are many fantastic strategies we can discuss implementing.  Many will create impact immediately while some take time to show their impact.

Just get real about the result you want.  You can’t be a medical doctor at the end of an accounting curriculum.  You won’t have more money if you are on a constant spending spree. You also won’t have more stuff if you are on a miserly, (read – CHEAP) saving plan.

If your goal is more stuff, then even within your spending plan, there are strategies for achieving your dream.  Connect with me and we can discuss those too.

Get real about your result, and let me help you achieve it.  I look forward to connecting with you.
